Metal Spinning
Metal spinning is a millennia old art among the crafts of chipless forming of metals into cylindrical parts.
Using metal spinning, we can create complicated parts of rotational symmetry with flanges, steps, conical tapers, and toroidal shapes of up to 50” in diameter. Subsequent machining steps can add features and meet required tight tolerances.
Metal spinning is a cost effective way to fabricate round parts having relatively small wall thicknesses. These parts otherwise would be machined out of a large block of expensive material.
Compared to stamping or deep drawing, the flowing of the metal during the spinning process delivers a preferable grain structure and stability.
